Happy pea shoot in hoophouse
Hello Friends,
Happy Snow!! It’s gorgeous here at the farm with the crops blanketed by all those gorgeous, humongous, wet snowflakes that fell last night. Guess we’re into the unpredictable pre-spring weather where you never know if it’s gonna rain, shine or snow! Just last week some Canadian geese and hummingbirds graced our fields enjoying the balmy weather, then today we woke to a world of white! The garlic’s happy though some of the other crops got a little smushed under snow-collapsed covers, but we think they’ll rebound with the warmer weather that’s supposed to arrive later this week. Speaking of which….
If you’re looking for a good time this Friday, come on down ‘cause we’ve got our February work party coming up this Friday, Feb. 17th in honor of President’s Day (so we can say “Party for the Presidents!” while we work…if you’ve ever been a president, say of your high school yearbook or drama club, this one’s for you!). The theme for this party will be SPRING SPRUCING. We’ve got a whole suite of projects to choose from including planting alliums, clearing space for our new walk-ins, tool maintenance, etc. etc. We’ll do the tool maintenance from 1-2pm, so if you want to learn how to do basic handle oiling and sharpening on our tools, or if you have tools that need some love feel free to bring them with you – we’ll have a grinder, files and oil on hand. And oh yes, like last time we’ll have a rockin’ farm dinner afterwards so bring a potluck dish if you like and we’ll feast after working up our appetites all day. Details:

Date: Friday, Feb. 17, 1-5pm (work party), 5pm on (party party). Rain or shine, come whenever you can!
What to Bring: Your wonderful self and any friends or family members (all ages welcome), outdoor clothing and boots or other mud-ready footwear (current Friday forecast is for partly cloudy weather, low 31 and high 54), work gloves, water, a potluck dish if you want (we’ll provide a basic vegetarian meal of grain and farm veggies), and dinnerware to eat and drink with.
